As the San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department, we are dedicated to Fire Prevention, Life Safety and Training. We are proud to serve the San Pasqual Indian Reservation and surrounding communities, and we respect the ways and traditions of all the people we care for. We are grateful and proud to be part of this community and will continue to do our best for all we serve. The communities of Valley Center, Rincon, Pauma Valley, Mesa Grande, Palomar Mountain and CAL FIRE San Diego Unit are all surrounding communities with paid and volunteer fire departments. Since the late 1990’s the Fire Departments of these surrounding communities have worked together in times of emergency to provide citizens of North San Diego County with fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. Through these collaborations the need for standardized and accessible training was identified. It was also during this time that the fire service training in general is becoming more standardized.
In 2006 the San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department has developed a Local Fire Academy with the intentions of training and developing community members in preparation of acquiring a job in the fire service. We are dedicated to providing quality training in a professional environment with a goal of becoming the first Native American Accredited Fire Academy in the county. The fire Academy will be a platform for Native Americans across the nation and locally to learn fire department traditions. A Custom and Traditions class teaches native and non-native participants the customs and traditions of the Native American populations. The Fire Academy program has the full commitment of the tribal members and with the support of the tribal board a full scale state-of-the-art training facility is being developed.
The San Pasqual Reservation Fire Academy is a California State Fire Marshal Accredited Academy. Fore more information please click the following link: San Pasqual Reservation Fire Academy
