The following are the terms and conditions for the establishment of the San Pasqual Scholarship Fund.
1. FUND NAME
The name of this fund shall be the San Pasqual Native American Scholarship Fund.
The purpose of the Fund shall be to provide financial support to enrolled tribal members and direct descendants of an enrolled tribal member, pursing advanced education at the community college and/or university level or vocational school.
Applicants for the award shall meet the following criteria
1. The candidate must be an enrolled tribal member or the direct descendant of an enrolled tribal member.
2. The candidate must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited university, community college, or vocational school
3. Candidates accepted for admission to a university, community college, or vocational school, or currently attending a university or community college or vocational school, and possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at their high school or institution of higher learning will receive first consideration. Applicants with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 are still encouraged to apply.
The Fund is established by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, with an annual pledge to be determined by available funds from the Tribal Resource Allocation Plan. The Fund is established with the intent that all monies credited to the Fund will be expended for its established purpose. The Fund can be augmented with additional contributions at any time.
The San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, Business Committee shall select a Tribal Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee shall consist of three (3) individual's representing the Tribe and the San Pasqual Education Department. The Tribal Scholarship Committee will examine applications and make award determinations based on the criteria and deadlines provided to applicants. Scholarship will be broken down in the following categories:
A: University Tuition / Fee Grants
B: Community College Tuition / Fee Grants
C: Vocational School Grants
D: Book and Supply Grants
The Tribal Scholarship Committee may request disbursement from the Fund in accordance with established policies, to be used in accordance with the purpose as stated above and as described further below.
Initially, the following is/are authorized to request disbursements from the Fund:
The Chairman of the Tribal Scholarship Committee
The Tribal Secretary Treasurer
The Administrative Policy outlined above was approved by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, Business Committee, and can be updated and amended by the Business Committee on an as needed basis in order to promote fairness and expand scholarship opportunities.
